Page 4: COMBINING VECTOR IMAGES

COMBINING VECTOR IMAGES

As we've seen in the previous chapter you can freely resize, color and edit not only the vector images but their separate parts as well.

Take a look at these three images (we've taken them from the Kitchen and Music sets):

We colored a few parts of the cup in blue and we colored one of the saxophone's curve in red. We'll delete the blue curves and we'll take the red curve and resize it some.

I would look good on a tea mug, don't you think? And it took us less than 5 minutes to design it.

You can also weld, trim and combine two or more vector objects. As far professional clipart sets such ours are, this works the best with very simple vector objects (which are very easy to draw).

We'll trim this cherry with the circle on its right.

Drag and drop the circle over the cherry, then select both objects. When two vector objects are selected, new options' icons will appear on the top. Click the icon that red arrow points to.

So the result is this:

Let's add some text... :-)

Now that you have the logo, the only thing left to do is to invent better computer than Macintosh :-)

We strongly suggest you to learn to use weld and trim tools well. They're very handy and designers use them a lot.

See the fictional's site logo below. It took us only a minute and the ellipse on the top to make these two curves that encircle the artwork.

Here's another one, with an image from the same clipart set:

Now export these vector element to eps and import them into Adobe PhotoShop, Corel PhotoPaint or some other quality graphics application of that kind. It'll take you only a few minutes to design something like this:

Perhaps we should really start such site :-)

Do you like it? If yes - read on! And remember: whatever we do with vector graphics, it's always completely scalable and always ready for print!
